W. Andrew Hodge, MD, FACS, is a world renowned orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee joint replacement and the management of arthritis. Dr. Hodge is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, and a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons. His expertise includes minimally invasive hip and knee joint replacement surgery, complex repairs of failed hip and knee joints, muscle-sparing anterior hip surgery and specialized arthritis treatments. As both a surgeon and a medical equipment engineer, he believes life with mobility can be enhanced by combining state of the art medical techniques, continued medical research/study and exceptional patient care.

Dr. Hodge’s research interest is to restore human motion and active lifestyles as people age and recover from disease and/or injury. As an Adjunct Professor at Arizona State University he continues to grow and expand technology with the ASU School of Biology and Health Systems Engineering. He is actively engaged with multiple research programs to continue medical advancements and improved mobility. Dr. Hodge currently holds several US Patents on orthopedic devices and technology.
Education and Medical Training
Dr. Hodge received his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago, Ill. He completed his residency at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago and then completed a fellowship in Adult Reconstructive and Joint Replacement at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston. Dr. Hodge has published over 50 articles in peer reviewed journals and has been featured on CNN News, Discovery Channel and Science Magazine, among others. Dr. Hodge is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the Orthopedic Research Society. He is board certified – Orthopedics and Fellowship trained in hip and knee replacement surgeries. He encourages and mentors Orthopedic Surgeons in their fellowships, imparting valuable medical knowledge, experience, and surgical techniques.
Dr. Hodge has lived and experienced cultures and vast locations around the world. He now resides in Phoenix, Arizona enjoying the warm weather, great outdoors and a round of golf or two. As an avid outdoors enthusiast he is known to go off-road or 4-wheeling, hiking the National Parks and the occasional fishing or hunting trip.

I feel a deep compassion to my patients and understand that from a mild knee-hip pain to a full replacement surgery, it is all a life changing experience. I believe in building and strengthening all relationships through open communication and availability.
